There are a few ways that you and your partner can earn rewards together toward one mortgage. This all depends on whose name(s) is listed on your mortgage loan because only the person(s) listed on the mortgage can redeem rewards towards the mortgage or closing costs.
If only one person listed on the mortgage:
The person listed on your mortgage must be the primary cardholder on your Rocket Visa Signature® Card account in order to redeem Rocket Rewards points towards your mortgage. The primary cardholder can add their spouse as an additional cardholder.
The additional cardholder’s spend would accrue points for the primary cardholder’s Rocket account. Then, only the primary cardholder can redeem these points toward your mortgage since they are listed on the mortgage.
If you are both listed on the mortgage:
If you are both listed on the mortgage as co-borrowers, you can do either of the following:
Both people open their own Rocket Visa Signature® Card accounts.
Both cardholders can earn rewards points under their own accounts. Both cardholders can redeem these points toward your mortgage.
One person opens a Rocket Visa Signature® Card account and adds their spouse as an additional cardholder.
Both the primary cardholder and the additional cardholder can earn Rocket rewards points for the primary cardholder’s Rocket account. Only the primary cardholder can redeem these points towards your mortgage. If the additional cardholder is removed from the account, all the rewards points would remain under the primary cardholder’s Rocket account.
Please note: you will accrue points at the same rate with these two options.
